Pulled this from 3dfx gamers.com and there not
kidding.All I tested so far was f1200,4xfsaa at 8x6
was running super smooth,it was almost unplayable before.
After you install the Voodoo 5 5500, goto Device Manager and look at Display
Adapter. notice is says 3dfx Voodoo Series driver or something along that
line.... goto DRIVER and hit UPDATE.... point the install to the cdrom
folder WIN9X and then DRIVER9X
IT SOLVES EVERYTHING.... DEAD SERIOUSNESS...

Don't pick search for better drive, use display list and
then have disk.have fun.

Does it smooth out the start of races? Also what is your
CPU and ram like?

Makes no difference whatsoever for me - unfortunately!
FPS in GPL and F12K are the same before and after changing drivers.
I have an Athlon 750 with 256Mb RAM.

None of the online sites I trust have the V5 in stock yet.
Maybe you got sold an earlier revision, the ones that
were recalled?

If you look over on the V5 NG, you'll find that most posters got no joy out
of this 'fix'.
Out of interest, how can one tell if it's a 'recall' board?

Don't know.   Sorry and good luck.
The problems you mentioned did sound like the
cards that were out earlier.  I think I'll wait awhile.
Where did you say you got it?

For me both drivers, Voodoo Series and Voodoo 5 run at the same speed with
GPL and everything else.
