F1RST question...

by Pete Panai » Mon, 25 Aug 2003 05:43:33

all I get when I launch it is a window, blue background with the F1RST logo
and along the bottom it says "Connecting To F1RST server..." but it never
does!
I have already by-passed my router. (connected straight to my cable modem
instead).
I am running WinXP pro and I do not have a firewall in use that I am aware
of.
Arrrgh!
Can someone lend some help?

BTW... I searched the F1RST page to look for clues. All I found was this
thread but still no luck.

No.
Well not really. I just tried it again and the window does seem to flash a
white page for like a millisecond. Way too fast to read. Then it just sits
there with that damn F1RST II logo on the blue background.
There is a little button along the bottom right with the letter "i" on it
(right in front of where it says "Connecting To F1RST server...") and I can
depress it but it does absolutely nothing. Unless... were your lights
flashing off and on a few minutes ago? LOL
I guess that button does not work either?

Phooey.  Sorry, I'm out of ideas.  Maybe someone can give you the e-mail
address of the guy who wrote it.  He's supposed to be a helpful sort...

F1RST question...

Eldred, thanks for the replies. This NG does not always seem to be the most
friendly. heheh!
I finally got it to work though!
What I did was to first search the registry for all indications of "F1RST".
After I found them, I deleted them.
Then I downloaded a new copy of "f1rst2.zip" and used that.
This time it worked.
Too bad I missed this weeks RASF1's race.   >:(

Sweet! Now I hope I can finally get to play on the tracks with some real
humans!  lol

On a side note I've been reading a lot of the posts for RASCAR. Wow, seems a
bit dodgy.
If I ever get to join in on a RASF1 playdate, heheh,  I hope the folks there
will be a bit more good natured.
Thanks again.

The only intelligent thing to do with the RASCAR posts is filter them out of
your newsreader.  Soon they will be featured on a Fox Network TV show: "When
Good People Go Bad".

Oh, DUH...  I never *thought* of checking the registry to delete, then
re-install.  Too much on my mind, I guess - sorry.
Glad you got it working!

The sun will still rise tomorrow. Whee!  >;)
