GP3: Accelerator always on (need clutch?)

GP3: Accelerator always on (need clutch?)

by John Boo » Wed, 30 May 2001 11:21:41

I just noticed another poster with the same problem.
The car is always supplying power when in gear, eg, when in first with no
accelerator, the car does 33kms by itself.  This makes it hard when you want
to spin turn quickly after spinning and the car is contiuously supplying
power when you don't want it.  Is this just me, or GP3?  If I use the
clutch, do I have to use it with all gear changes or just when I want it to
(ala GPL?)  BTW, GP3 has it's problems but it is still hte best outthere
(can't wait for this upgrade to come out...)

Book.

Yep - same here.  Drop into Neutral, peg the throttle, and then hit
1st and you should do OK.  Have you tried the FPS and GPx patches?
Brought my interest back to F1 simming...

Have you tried the FPS and GPx patches?

I have a 1ghz P3 / V5-5500 and it has been enough for most everything but
GP3 never ran worth a shit about 640x480.  However I eyed a $240 GF2 Ultra
64MB at newegg and it proved too much to resist.  I will be again loading
up GP3, point me to these patches anyone?

Umm, you did know about the single-chip bug w/GP3 and the V5, didn't
you?  Unless you ran single chip mode, or enabled FSAA the game was
slower.  Check www.bhmotorsports.com, I think they have links to both
utils.

What's this?  I thought that was done long ago with a driver patch.  If not
let me know, I didn't know there was a GP3 specific problem, I am dual chip
24/7 for all other games, DeusEx and CS run very fast, GPL is pegged at 36
and N4 at 75 alone or 30-45 in traffic but the FPS util seemed to do some
good though it was a bit hard to find.  Only at 40% proc occu at 800x600
near max now, up goes the res and FPS util setting.

In GP3s controller setup if you set the clutch to use gear change, you can
activate the clutch by holding the gearchange button in.

You have to clutch it before doing a dohnut,

hold the shifter paddle, rev the bejazas out of it and let go.

What I do is force a loss of traction, i.e. I jam my foot on the floor and
turn the steering wheel sharply.  It hasn't failed yet.

The creeping forward is called tickover and yes you do need a clutch to stop
it. Good luck finding a wheel with one.

Holding the gearshift acts as a clutch.

In "Driving Aids", are you using "Throttle Help"?  If yes then even with
"Accelerate/Brake - Low Sensitivity Zone" =0 the car will continue or drive.
