UP TO DATE CARSET FOR N2?

by all.. » Sun, 26 Jan 1997 04:00:00

Does anyone know if there is an up to date carset for N2 and where i could get
it? I' m sure someone has made a set that contains all the cars for the 97
winston cup season with all the driver changes. I bet that Hot Wheels car for
Kyle Petty is cool. Thanks.

We have quite a few of the 97 cars (including the #44) done.  I've had
some trouble accessing the site lately, but check it out:

IWCCARS currently has about 12 or so now, but they are constantly
updating, so eventually there
will be all drivers there.

As of now (01/26/97 0200) their site
(www.theuspits.com/iwcccars/index.html) is down, so I dunno when you'll be
able to get the newest cars.

And, FYI, there are no 'carsets' in N2.  According to Papyrus, you are
supposed to be able to
have up to 128 drivers in a CARS directory, but because of a programming
error, only 62 or so
will be accessible.

UP TO DATE CARSET FOR N2?

Ok, time to show my ignorance...  again.

I have downloaded and imported several of these new cars, and they are a
nice addition to the game.  What I need some help explaining is how they
figure in to a multiplayer race, whether it be a modem game, Kali game, or,
eventually, the NRO.

For example,  I perfer to race the Chevys, and I have my own setups for
them.  I have my favorite car that I have painted / imported / whatever,
and I want to race that car, and anyone who sees that car will know it is
me.  But from my experence, you have to do  little ' creative ' managing to
get into the correct car even in a two player modem game.  In the NRO, are
we going to be able to have our own car ( make, paint scheme ) and team
that we manage and race every week?  Or is it going to be a first come
first servered kind of thing?

And something else I have been wondering about.  What is the structure of
the NRO? How many divisions are there going to be? There will have to be
more than one, because there is no way that the NRO will survive with just
3x paying customers.    Ok, someone point me to the FAQ now...

Thanks,

Robert

From what Ed Martin said a few months ago about the NRO, players will
be forced to drive cars that depict the various sponsors of NRO.  My
main concern is what make the car is (Ford, Chevy, Pontiac).  I want
to drive a Ford every time, but if I get car #5 in the set, and car #5
is a Chevy or Pontiac, then my setups won't work quite the same way.

You may not get the graphics of the car you want, but I'm pretty sure
it will work like it does on Hawaii with N1.  Basically all of the info
is taken from your driver info (your name, car make, etc.).  So if you
have yourself set up in a Chevy, you'll be driving a Chevy in N2
despite what PCX file is used for your car.  So you might be driving
the #28, but it will still be a Chevy as far as the sim is concerned.

It loads your name and nickname from driver info, if you use a Chevy
offline but offline you use the Cars96 set and get put in Mark Martin's
Ford, you'll be driving a ford, Hawaii does not load chassis info, or
tire info for that matter, when you go into the track to race. I do hope
this is fixed in N2 online racing.

I'm almost positive I remember Ed Martin saying otherwise.

Its been my experience that the info is taken from "Driver Info" to
include Chasis and Tire brand. I know that I've had Chevy painted cars
while on Hawaii and have had Ford as my Chasis in driver info. The car I
drive on Hawaii (although painted like a chevy)drives like the Ford. I
do believe Eric is correct here and I remember seeing the same post from
Ed.

He may have said that as far as N2 goes but when you get a chance load
up a set with the different makes scattered evenly throughout and hook
up on Hawaii, It happened again to me friday night.
