I'76 and T2 (again)

I've seen many posts from people who can't get their T2 to work with
Interstate '76 but no answers that work for me.
T2 is calibrated - set as custom: race car controller.  Works fine with
Sega Rally, MTM and Pod.  I am using the adapter (2 sticks to 1).
I don't have a dedicated game port.  Using an older AWE32 value (not
PnP) which, like I said, works with other games.
Any ideas?  Do I need to fork out for hardware (TM ACM) just to get this
game to work?

BTW Is I'76 using D3D?  If you put in the Install disk and right click
on it in control panel, there's a DirectX3 installation option.  In here
is a checkbox 'Hardware Accelleration Enabled' (Orchid Righteous is also
mentioned in the help file - implies D3D to me).  What's the deal?
If it is D3D then either D3D or Rendition Sucks Heavily.
Has anyone played this a with 3Dfx board?  I'm likely to buy one next
month (if it works alongside a 3D Blaster PCI).
Please mail me as I don't get here as often as I'd like.

Thanks very much,

Mark

I had the same problem with my GranPrix 1 from Thrustmaster.
Even though the wheel worke4d in other games, it would not work in
Interstate'76 until I used a dedicated game card (ACM game card to be
specific.).  May not be what you wanted to hear, but I hope it
helps...

As far as I can tell, I76 is not using D3D at this time.
there seems to be a lot of discussion here to back that up as well.
Apparently it's only ususing DirectDraw and DirectSound.  <sigh> I've
also heard there's a D3D patch in the works, but I'll believe that
when I see it.  Game rocks anyway.  By the way, my mail server is
down, so I hope you see this on the groups a sI couldn't mail you.

I also had a problem getting my T2 (connected to a SB32AWE PnP) to be
recognized. I then noticed that sometimes when I went back to the games
control configuration setup, it was trying to look at joystick 2! I hit
RESTORE, then RIGHT clicked the 'left shift' option, and hit the shift up
on the controller. I did the same with down. I used the A button (button
3) for weapon fire, and the B button for selection. I then QUIT the game,
and restarted it.

One thing I've noticed is that the throttle/brake seem to act like a
simple on/off switch. There doesn't seem to be any analog control to it.

BTW, I saw a 1.8M patch on Activision's web site that upgrades it to
version 1.05. Most of the fixes involve Multi-Melee and 320x200 modes.
