I pulled my old copy of INDYCAR out the other day to try the v1.04 update
(I never upgraded from 1.0).  I hoped the new version would be a big help
(I'm bored with F1GP).  No such luck I'm afraid.  I still have one big
complaint about INDYCAR:

On the short tracks my car is very slow on the front straight (about 30
-40mph slower).  Have I missed a update?  Has anyone else had this
problem?  Is there a fix or do I go back to F1GP?

   Your slowness down the straights is due to your car setup
IMHO.  Check 1) your boost is at 9, 2) your wings are set for
higher speed, and 3) the opponent strength setting is reasonable.
    If you don't have any setings you have developed on your own,
the ACE settings will generally be a good starting point for
running at up to 105% opponent strength.
    I generally can out run the AI cars down the straights, and
loose a little in the turns on the short ovals when racing at my
MAX.

It's the wind. Wind blows one way along one straight and (obviously) the
wind direction (Relative to the car) is the opposite down the other
straight. Try changing the wind settings. Don't worry though, it affects
the computer cars as well.
