Stick shift with 6 gears?

I've hear of gear shifting going up and down with formula T-2.  But is
there such a thing as you have a clutch and a stick shift that goes in an
H pattern?  If you've heard of such a thing, please let me know.  If one
doesn't exist, it would be fantastic to make one--it would be the ultimate
in realism! --Scott Meadow

: Surely the "ultimate in realism!" would be to have 2 paddles on the back of the wheel, and a semi-automatic gearbox, where you just flip a paddle, or button, and the gearbox does the rest ?

I haven't ever driven a REAL car that had 2 paddles on the back of the wheel to shift. Now maybe if you drive
REAL F1 cars, then It would be realistic, but how many of us do.  A REAL F1 car might as well be a video game
to me, because I will never have anything to compare a computer sim to.  However I think it would be
very cool to have a gated shifter, and a clutch to use. That is one thing that frustrates me most, not
being able to select the gear I want, when I want it, I have to go one gear at a time.  Unfortunately
a software company will have to come out with a program that will support such a set up, before, or at
least in conjunction with a company like thrustmaster will come out with the hardware.

Not for IndyCar racing, where "pilots" are still men :)  Over here they
still take that hand off the wheel to change gears.  However, I'm pretty
sure that the gears are selected sequentially.  The Clutch is only used
to start and in the pits and maybe to find reverse.
