who was selling it for $47 (!), guess that deal's over with. Anyways,
here's my first few hour's opinion.
----
First of all, the cookies(wheelspin) are excelent! Getting out of the
crowded pits will not only be possible, but fun!
Here's hint I think: Before qualifying spin the tires a little in
the pits, a little heat seems to build in the back tires.
So far I've only run Taladega.
The tri is done much, much better, with a bit of noticible banking. I'm
seeing speeds of 197+ going into turn 1. (Ouch, the old set up doesn't
have a chance with that part of the track anymore.)
Forget the NAS1 set up at least for Dega. My old set up was better than
the default, but nothing close to what it ran in the 'old world' dega.
It's gonna be back to the drawing board for this version. (I hope it's the
last time.)
The inside line marking in the turns is now actually at the point where it
turns into flat. I find this much more comfortable.
The road color looks more like the cement tracks in NAS1. I didn't at
first like this, but after an hour it didn't matter any more.
Maybe it's another 'getting used to' thing, but I liked the NAS1 mirrors
better. There is a definite blind spot. The spotter helps this though.
The lack of stagger control is a minus. Papy says that the tire
manufactures designate it so it's not needed. I say the tire
manufacturers don't make judgements on 5% races like alot of the online
races will be.
The new car set up format is great! You can see all your car specs at once.
The AI cars seem to be a bit more aggressive, a good thing.
The graphics do better in general. I can now have people in the stands
when I could not before. (I've got a P120, and run the DOS version.)
And of course It's nice to see the picture on the box representing
how things _really_ are. ;)
That's it for now,
Matt
