Well the playstation version does. I'm not so sure about the PC version.
I'm trying to track down the interview with the F1 product manager from
Psygnosis - I read it a couple od days ago but can't track it down! I thought it
stated that there wouldn't be a***pit unless they had time to add one?!
Of course I could be horrible wrong.

Still - no wing mirrors.

An intersting point, since it also applies to ICR2 and Nascar, the
only other wto real racing sims. Why are these companies too stupid to
realize they could clean up in the 3dfx racing sim market?

It will support Rendition...no plans at this time to support 3Dfx

Apparently racing sim developers have an aversion to money. I'll be
glad to help out by making sure they get none of mine!

I heard it wont....maybe as a patch but not out of the box..then again
i could be wrong, the game has been delayed for so long maybe they had
time to finish it (rendition support) but i heard the help from
rendition's techs was horrible and so they dropped it..

who knows, i sure hope it will support the rendition  or atl east
direct3d!

No, thanks! I will continue to buy flightsims from MicroProse, but they
will not
sell me the patch for GP2...

<...>

Hmmm... the upcoming playstation version supposedly is going to have
mirrors and***pit- according to some UK playstation mag I happened
across 2 weeks ago or so.

They'd be crazy not to put mirrors in it- they must have figured out
by now that this was a major oversight- 1/2 of racing is in watching
the mirrors.***pit actually wasn't such a big issue to me- but let's
face it, they could gain some framerate by filling half the screen
with a pretend***pit, and it would enhance the sim. The article did
say they were emphasizing the *sim* attributes of the next release...

Agreed. To bad the AI was beyond bad- essentially nonexistant, at
least in comparison with Papy or Crammond's.

If Crammond is listening- PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make a CART sim! It is
completely obvious that Papy has dropped the ball on this one; they
gave up on Indycar.

I've said it before- I don't know why CART doesn't just *PAY* somebody
to make a 1st class sim. I don't think they realize the power of sims.
I mean, people in Finland, Japan, AUstralia are NASCAR fans- why?
Because of a computer game! This year NASCAR goes to Japan. Lord knows
I would never have discovered Formula One had it not been for GP2- it
just isn't popular in the USA. My sister and I got up at 3:30 in the
morning and met with two friends to watch Spa last week! None of us
would have even known or cared about it had it not been for That is
the power of sims. Racing is the only sport I can think of  that you
can actually see everything from the athletes point of view, make the
same decisions as the althete- think about it! That is what makes it
so engaging. So engaging I think that in 20 years lots of people will
have personal enclosed simulators in their houses to simulate 1st
person games (racing perhaps foremost), like people have hot-tubs now.

I can't wait!

I used to think this way too. I have started playing GP2 again. Man I'll
tell you, it gives the best sense of driving a road course that I have seen.
You must be in the same gear at the same part of the track as the real
F1 cars & most everything else is accurate. Apart from how the framerate
vs CPU occupancy is done I really enjoy GP2. If GP3 has 3DFX support,
that alone will probably be enough for me to get the game. Of course I
think I ought to hold out for weather too :-)  I did like the way GP1 did it.

I beg to differ. Australians dont really like NASCAR racing (real
life) that much. We would much rather play the Pits TCC or
GP2/Psygnosis' F1 or Power F1 than straight Nascar 2.
I could guess thatthe reason behind good sales of Nascar 2 in this
country is because of the availbility of The Pits' Super Touring cars,
and the also available V8Supercar kits for N2.

Since you took Finland as one of the examples of where there are
lots of Nascar fans, it doesn't appear to be so to me. Sure you
can occasionally see Nascar in e.g. Eurosport channel, but
Nascar 2 (the game) never was a heavy seller here, it appears to
me it has been discount bin software for quite some time here
already (in fact, I think I saw it in some discount bins after
a few weeks of its launch here, months ago).

Games like F1GP, F1GP2 and Screamer (a rally game) have been much
more successful games here, probably because there even are Finnish
rally and F1 drivers with moderate or even good success
(hey, does anyone
still remember how Keijo Rosberg won the F1 world championships
in the eighties? ;-)).

The situation for Nascar is pretty much the same in Finland (and
probably the rest of Europe).
