Nascar 2, many more ups than downs

Papyrus, the job you did with Nascar 2 is fantastic. Very realistic. In my
point of view, anyone calling this an "arcade" game can't drive this and
get the kick out of it that most of us here get.

The AI is great. This is the first time I can remember off of Hawaii on
Talladega where it was very difficult to pass. N1 was a breeze around
Talladega, N2 makes the track hard and a challenge, which was what most
players were looking for. The banking is less forgiving and the Tri-oval
doesn't make me afraid to pass off of turn 4. The AI also don't give up as
easily when trying to pass you so that ups the challenge level too. Also,
why are people saying there is something wrong with the mirrors? They are
fine, and the way it is in real life.

The addition of player breakdowns and broken-down cars smoking are also
great. In N1 it was very difficult to blow an engine or break something
and in N2 you never know if something will break. Having broken-down cars
smoking also helps you to start manuevering around them when they slow
down.

I'm sure I'm not alone when people say the spotter is very cool. It's
like having someone over your shoulder calling out your lap times and
where cars are around you. I don't feel alone when I play this game.

One question, in the driver list section of the game, how does the
program pick which drivers are left out each race, and how come I can't
have more than 39 in a separate list.

The only bug I found was in the outputting of .stn files. When you
output qualifying results, it shows #0 for every driver. Everything else
is just great.

The only flaw I saw was my frame rate didn't jump much in SVGA from
Nascar 1. I'm running a Pentium 75 with 24MB RAM and a 1MB Cirrus Logic
Video card. In N1 I could only get away with car detail, smoke, and
skids/paint. In N2 I can get away with the same things from N1 plus Wall
Texture.

Great job Papyrus, I've just spent 40$ on many, many, many hours of
enjoyment.
