Questions...N2

Hello all,

I have a few questions that that I just thought about. First let me say
I love the game, and even tho' it has a few bugs, I still enjoy playing
it. O.k now the questions:

1) If I change the driver's skill's mid-way through a season, will the
changes take place right away, or do I have to start a new season for
them to take affect?

2) I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but this one really pisses me
off. I was racing at Dover and was battling for 7th place. Me and about
5 other cars were all bunched up in a pack. Well one car started to
smoke. We went around a few laps before he decided to pit. As he was
pitting, my spotter said I have a slow car in front. Right after he said
that, the other cars just about stop!! I didn't hit the brake in time
and BANG! Smaked right into the rear end of another car. Did lot's of
damage and was out of the race. (Well, after I pitted and had the
repairs fixed, I was 4 laps down) Why did they stop!? The same thing
happened again, about 20-25 laps later. And BANG! right into the back of
another car. It happened again, but this time I was far enough back that
I was able to slow down in time. But I don't like the fact that my
spotter tells me I have a slow car right as the other cars are stopping.
Just wondering if this is a bug or not.

3) How can a car finish the race and be a lap down but still be in the
top 5 when other cars are on the lead lap and finish behind him? Same
Dover race, there were 3 cars a lap down but finished in the top ten
while other cars that were in the lead lap finished behind them. I did a
125 lap race at Dover and at the end the 5th place car finished on lap
124, but the 6th place car finished on lap 125. Just wondering how that
can be.
Thanks for any answers anyone might have.

I would say that the Dover sudden slow is more of the
Artificial Intelligence "limit" rather than a bug. Basically
the cars behind the smoker slow suddenly because they detect
and car slowing as it turns into the pits. Unfortunately they
are not "smart" enough just to blow on by. I have been caught
the same at C***te. To avoid it, keep wide if you are
following a smoker until it's out of the way. Maybe  Nascar 3
will have sussed. As for you other questions I don't have a
answer,

Matt -

If you've got the replay for this race as well as the STN standings file,
you're welcome to send a copy of them to me at Papyrus and I'll take a look
at them.  The replay has standings information throughout the race, so if
there is indeed a bug in the standings, we should be able to identify
exactly when it happened by scanning through the replay.  Hope you've got a
lot of RAM so the replay is as complete as possible!

Yup, it will. Same goes for changing the entry list that was chosen at
the start of the season. If you switch JG and WD on the list (their
relative position on the list ie.. 5th and 39th) then they swap places
in the season, it won't make any difference to finishes/performances
from then on though.

There is a Dover AI fix. I would have thought it fixed that kind of
thing. Try The Pits at www.theuspits.com in the "Workshop".

This could be a bug that is thought to have come by "maxing" out the
number of cars in the Dover text file. Do you have it at 40? I set
Bristol up for 40 cars and I came 4th over, co-incidentally, 125 laps.
However the 3 cars ahead of me were only _starting_ the last lap
according to the telemetry as I finished lap 125. Something goes wrong
when you pit, that's for sure. I went in from 1st, leading by 6
seconds earlier than the rest, by a lap or two, I came out 18th, fair
enough.
But did I ever make those positions up when the AI pitted? Nope. :)

I just wished it wasn't 2am when I was having this race. May have
worked out this bug then, ah well... `. )

Hope that's helped..
