Can someone who has used INDYCAR/NASCAR with both joystick and a Wheel/pedal
combo please post their thoughts as to the benefit of using a wheel.

I'm unable to convince myself that the $160 is worth spending and would like
to here other peoples thougths.

Thanks->Advance.

I think it is DEFINITELY woth it ($130 for mine).  The torsion spring
on my formula T1 recently broke, and while waiting for a replacement
piece I went back to my joy stick ...... IT WAS A SUCKING EXPERIENCE..
There is no comparison .

With the wheel/pedal you can accelerate/brake with your foot/feet
and steer realistically as well as shifting using a stick.  IT is
much much more realistic then keyboard or joystick.

Also another advantage is that you can regulate power and breaking
instead of the on/off mode in keyborad joystick.  That's a major
advantage even in ovals.
Take first corner in portland ...break+downshift+ turn ..try
doing that with a joystick and a wheel pedal and you'll experience
the difference.

Bottom line is: If you can afford it and want to enjoy your
pc ride ...go for it.  Besides, you'll improve your times.
I get a deceent 1:00.373 in portland vs. 1:04-05 with joystick.

Untill I fix my T1, I am only driving ovals..with autoshift.

I found the Indycar road circuits almost impossible with a joystick,
but within an hour of hooking up the T1, I could lap at Laguna Seca
without going off the circuit.  My lap times still suck, though
(practice, practice).

I thought it was.  World Circuit is much more fun with it too.

I like the ACP from Simulation Systems,  It is free standing and all metal.
F1 gear shift.  But is is a bit more, $180.  I think it is worth it not
to have to fasten something esle to the desk.  BTW you can adjust the
angles of the steering wheel on it.
