joystick "not connected" (help)

by bpo.. » Fri, 04 Feb 2000 04:00:00

I have a Thrustmaster T2 steering wheel connected , but when I try to
change it to as joystick or Virtual Pilot, I get "not connected" all
the time. Why is it I cannot add other joysticks or wheels.
Would appreciate some help.
Thanks

You have to REMOVE all the other controllers except the one you want to use..

Sounds like a DirectX 7 problem.  Download Joystart from Stickworks or
just click here http://home.att.net/~stickworks/swdownld.html#JSTRT100
and put this in your Startup folder.

See if that does the trick.

Try this.  Go into the Game Controller in Control panel and click on
Advanced and then change the ID to say 3.  Come out and shut down.  Plug
in the controller you want to use and then boot up again and go to the
Game Controller and try and add it now.  It will probably come up as not
connected, so go back into advanced and change its ID to 2 and then go
back to general and see if the 'status' has changed to OK along with
your other controller 'status'.  If not then go back to advanced and
keep moving those IDs around for each of the controllers and then going
back to general to check the 'status' and hopefully it will show as 'OK'
for all your controllers listed.  This has worked for me with 2
controllers.  I haven't tried it with more than 2.

One side affect from this though seems to be that your games will think
that you now have more than 1 game controller connected that needs
calibrating.  :-)

Hope this works for you.
