I'm curious about this TOCA racing sim - Apparently it's a big hit in europe
so I downloaded a the PC demo from the codemasters site (www.codmasters.com)..

WOW!  This game rocks!  It's truly a sim - none of that Need for Speed arcade
racer nonsense...

The cars are like racer versions of ordinary road cars (Honda Accords, ect)..
FWD door slammers with 300hp 4-cylinder engines.

Hopefully they'll make a US version soon... (with US Tracks). I think real
world equivalence to TOCA in the US is SCCA's Sport Touring Car Class.

I don't think there will be a US version, unless they implement North
American Touring Car Championship (NATCC) cars and tracks in TOCA II, if
they decide to even make another TOCA game.  You can order TOCA here in the
US at www.interactcd.com   they are located in Pasadena, CA.

And considering that the NATCC went belly up, I wouldn't hold my
breath.

Unfortunately TOCA isn't as much of a sim as most people would have
liked.
There are no car setups, damage to your car doesn't affect performance
etc.

However, it is an excellent game.

Order it if you can !

Andrew

Hi Roman, time for my weekly pitch for the TPTCC.
TPTCC is an almost total conversion patch of Nascar Racing2.  The boys at the pits
have taken the big heavy Winston Cup car and turned them into nimble 2.0 litre
International touring cars.  they have NATCC, BTC, DTC, Aussie cars painted or
submitted by others.
The tracks are US road courses from Indycar Racing 2.  So with TPTCC, you can
race touring cars at Road America, Long Beach, Mid Ohio, and many more.  A really
good effort and you can check it out at the USPits.
have fun

According to an email I just received from Codemasters, they are planning to
release TOCA in the US within the next few months.  I hope they do.

Unfortunately, that's the exact same thing they said a few months ago.
Doesn't sound like any progress has been made. It's wierd - there's
such a paucity of decent arcade PC racers, you'd think some American
distributor would be dying for games like TOCA.
