GPL Rank and F3/F2 or others?

GPL Rank and F3/F2 or others?

by Steve Garrot » Wed, 10 Jan 2001 03:31:56

I have found it rather difficult to see where I stand with other F3/F2
drivers on GPL Rank. The Nations cup shows the times, when you click
on those times it brings up all of the people in that country not just
the F3. I was just hoping to see it listed with just the F3 drivers so
that I could see that I was very low on the list instead of having to
look at the complete list. I am also unable to locate all 46 F3
drivers on the list. Would it be possible to add this in the
multiple-choice hell? I guess maybe a new field would assist with this
one for Type: with the choices being F1, F2, F3, and maybe FD and FG?

Please do not take this a negative, I love the GPL Rank site and am
trying to improve my times accordingly. Or maybe with only 47 people
posting F3 times it is not worth you time?

Thanks
SLG

The way I understand it.. GPLRank reads your driver.ini files from your
player directory searching for each track name.  All that's needed is to
have it also read the DriversRating=x.  (x is..F1=3 F2=2 F3=1).  This I know
from personal experience would give bad records because I've many times
entered a GP only race with my F3 driver with out thinking.  I'd have no
problem doing another round on all the tracks with a new F3 player.ini.  (My
F3 file is currently correct, just not up to date)

I think I mentioned this to the site before.  I can't remember why they
didn't want to do that though.

The last time this was mentioned the official response was that since there were
relatively few F3 drivers on GPLRAnk it would be easier to create a buddy list
with the F3 drivers than to add an F3 feature to MCH.  Basically, it wasn't high
on the list of things to do ;).  Hopefully with more F2 and F3 drivers on
GPLRank, it will move up the list. Unfortunately when creating an F3 buddy list,
it isn't easy to locate all the drivers because some only have "F3" in their
login and not in their name and the search function is hit limited. I've found
42 F3 drivers; want to compare lists?

Ken
PS I do appreciate all the work that has gone into GPLRAnk.

Ken! I was wondering if you'd left GPL-world. Haven't seen you on VROC for a
while.

Actually Roger you are partially to blame for ending a co-workers social
life thanks to you providing a copy of GPL (I have yet to inform him of
the life altering path he has embarked on ;).

I've been around Rob, but the Regulars league is about to start it's
first season and that's been keeping me fairly busy. But if you feel
like some F3 practice sometime, I'll let you know when and where.

You've basically answered the question Steve, and now with some F2/F3 people
muddying up the database with engine swapped times, there are even less pure
F2/F3 accounts.

pure F2/F3 accounts.

On that subject, is there a official position on FD/FG gplrank accounts.

So would some simple script that shows only f2 / f3 drivers suffice,
i.e. no multiple choice hell or whatever? This would be rather easy
to implement. Please let me know and I'll see what can be done.

Cheers,

Uwe

If you implement a script that shows f2 / f3 drivers only, would it be
too much trouble to make a list of only f1 drivers ?

Thanks again for the great GPL Rank!

Thank you so much, ask and receive!!!

Now after I thank and say how nice you are . . . The gankings it gives
are not correct. or at least for me it is showing me at 476.50 when I
am at 431.82. The order looks right just not the handicap number. or
did I miss something.

Thanks again for the addition of this to GPLRank and I was very
pleased to see it last night!

Thanks for pointing this out Steve, obviously a bug. If you select Country(USA)
as well as F3, it does come up with your correct rank of 431, but it screws up
when asking for the entire F3 list.
