Castrol Superbikes Vs. Redline Racer: Comments

Well, I just got done playing both of these demos and then I removed
both from my hard drive.  I wish the graphics and framerate of RR could
be in the Castrol Superbikes - then it might be a pretty good motorcycle
sim.  It looks like Castrol could have been a decent motorcycle racing
game but the graphics engine would have to be much better.  I thought
the graphics did not look quite as bad as what I had been expecting from
other posts - a bit odd perhaps and not very crisp in the details,
especially the background, but......here's my system:

Stealth II/CL Voodoo 2 12 MB.  You would think I'd get a decent
framerate with this setup.  I used the 3D CC so I'm pretty sure it
should have been using the V2 card (although even if it was using the
Rendition card it should have played smoother than it did).  But no, the
framerate was ***- I didn't know how to measure it - but suffice to
say it was choppy and annoying.  I'm getting an average 60 fps or better
in most games.  So I had to stop playing this - I can't tell how good
the physics model or anything is when it's running like ***like this -
and I got no sensation of speed whatsoever.   Redline Racer demo, on the
other hand, was just as smooth as can be, running at a great framerate,
and beautiful graphics.  I had played it once before on my old system,
and the game didn't run fast enough to bother with.  With this new setup
it runs and looks great..........but.......now that I can see what the
physics model of this one is like, I think it sucks.  This game is just
nothing but a bunch of silly darting around all over the place.  And the
first person view just leans way too far over to the side and is
bothersome.  Controls don't feel right either.
So, my conclusion is.......I know Moto Racer isn't a sim, but it's
still the one if you want to play a game that at least FEELs like you're
on a motorcycle.  I hope they don't***MR2 up, and perhaps the
Microsoft Motocross Madness will be good.
