GPL SoundPack

I just installed an add-on called carsound which patches the gpl.exe and
adds new sounds for all the cars. I really like the different sounds! But,
I'm having a problem with noise in the sound, like slight cracks and just a
general fuzzy distortion. The cracks I'm hearing with the Eagle; the static
happens at idle in the Ferrari. Does anyone else get this? I'm wondering if
it's my soundcard getting stressed, something with my machine, or just the
sounds themselves?

specs:

sblive
Abit KT7A
Anthon 1.2
256 PC133
voodoo 5
Netgear NIC

I'm running a SBLive and KT7A here too and get some hissing /crackling when
using the Ferrari . Seems to be a common complaint with the SBLive . Haven't
found a solution yet though it works fine with most other apps. Having tried
different WAV files I'm sure that the Ferrari file has a few "impurities"
which ruin that "clean" sound we're looking for.

Haven't

Yes, I was going mad when I first put this together trying to track down an
issue with the sound card where I would get these really bad pops and a lot
of noise. I went as far as ditching the sblive for a turtle beach sata cruz,
which fixed about 90% of the problem but still gave me a little static and
popping. As it turns out, I went back to the sblive but put it in PCI slot
#1 and problem solved... well, so I thought... the soundpack is the first
thing that hasn't sounded right since moving the sound card. I'm not 100%
convinced it's the sound card. During my first go round, in addition to the
noise, I was getting dismal performance in N4 and GPL. There was this awful
stutter... At least that's not back. Anyhow- Thanks for posting!

Turn off all sound effects for your sblive, think its in the surround mixer
...
Also place the bass/treble sliders in neutral position.
entertainment/volumecontrol/advance.
