Hi all,
Last night in 1st Free practice at Spa (my first laps on this track) I had a
little spin in Les Combes. I righted myself and got back on the track and
later on the same lap going thru the Pouhon complex there was a course
marshall standing on the inflied of the second 4/5th gear lefthander waving a
white flag. He remained there throughout the session just waving for all he
was worth. I chalked it up to overexuberance on the part of the volunteer
marshall for the Simtek team but in retrospect I do believe he may have been
trying to tell me to simply surrender. Qualified in P20 with a 1:55.948 and
DNF'd on lap 28 after a tangle with the curbing on the way uphill after Eau
Rouge... I was already near the bottom of the order thanks to ***y Martini
who pulled out of the pits and across my wing in an attempt at holding onto
his position. Bad news to lose a wing 3 laps after a pit stop. Tyres go very
quickly at Spa and I was looking at a 20 lap run before I could pit again. In
practice my tyres had been red lined after 11 or 12 careful laps (running
fairly stiff springs). Since my incident occured 15 laps into the long run I
think the tyres just might not have been there ahymore. Hopefully Monza will
be more rewarding.
