NFS=Sloppy Steering?

I have NFS SE, NFS2, GP2 and ICR2 and a Thrustmaster Steering Wheel.  Anyone
know why, other than the obvious "they're not sims!!!!", the 2 NFS titles
have big dead zones in the steering at centre and somewhat jerky transitions
from one steering "zone" to another, while ICR2 (win95) and GP2 steer
beautifully and smoothly?  Is there an adjustment somewhere I am missing?
By the way, regardless of where the steering sensitivity in NFS2 is set
(full, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4), it always has a big on-centre dead zone and jerky
behaviour.  And, the same differences are apparent with a Gravis joystick
vs. the wheel, it's just a lot more annoying with the wheel.

Thanks in advance!

I have a GP1 wheel, and have the same problem. The best I could do was
make sure that the game was set to simulation mode. This produced the
closest "wheel feel," but still had the huge null zone in center, and
also had a "notched" feel to the steering when it did engage. I
sincerely hope that EA will provide a patch or work around in the near
future, as the game really shines with a 3Dfx card, but the unrealistic
steering marrs it greatly.
