Is the Act labs the only gated shifter on the market or are there others
around?

Never heard of any others myself.  The Act Labs unit is great, though.
If you're at all interested, stop thinking and buy immediately!

Schooner...

Frex has come out with a shifter (about two months ago).........don't recall
the website but I'm sure others can provide it to you.  BRD was working on
one, but I haven't heard anything about this for quite some time.  We are
going to produce one using Hurst shifters (the beta prototype is on the
WC-style***pit I posted about here a week or so ago)........but they'll be
spendy (not intended for retail sim users....but some will probably buy
them.....just not many at about $500 each).

Regarding the AL shifter.  They work well, but are not very durable (we have
six of them....they don't take much abuse.....to break).  If you get one of
these units, I would suggest not mounting it "solid"....as AL suggests with
their mounting hardware.  Put some *** grommets or some other "shock
absorbing" material between the bolt-downs and your mounting surface.  We
did this and now we break about 50% less units.

Hope this is the kind of info you were looking for?

Regards,

Tom

The URL for Frex is:

If thier wheel and pedal unit is any indication of the quality of the
shifter, this should be one awesome unit!

Enjoy,
