A moment of your time for a question Mr Genter?. I am interested in
learning about how you model the worlds that you use in your game.

Do you use an in-house model generator, or a commercially available
one, or do you just plot out the points on paper, and work out the
vertices yourself?

I am just beginning in this field and I am quite interested to know
how the professionals do it.

PLEASE... if you have any tips which you have learned, please pass
them on.

We developed a number of in-house tools. We start with a high-end CAD
program (I don't remember which one), but then we use our in-house tools
to *heavily* massage the 3D model.

On the same topic, and this may be a ridiculous
question, but I've always wondered if there would
(could?) ever be a module to let you design your
own cars.  I for one think it would be REALLY cool
to race with some of the older cars of the 70's, etc.
I assume this is impossible, because beyond the
actual shape of the body you would have all the other
physical modeling of the cars, which would probably
be beyond the scope of any single design tool...

Oh well..  sure would be neat though!  Any chance you
guys would ever come out with "Car Packs" featuring
different models/years of cars?  (One can always
think wishfully!)

Doubtful, since changing the car bodies means changing the physics
(aerodynamics) as well, which is a code change, not just a data change.
