Help! ICR2 paintkit

by Otto Mathek » Fri, 27 Nov 1998 04:00:00

I am having huge problems with paintkit in ICR2.  I have painted two
cars using other cars
in pcx format off the web.  Painted the first car in Paintshop Pro.
Saved it as a pcx and then used DOS paintkit to swap out IND95.pcx from
the CARS95 set.  Although the new
car looked fine in paintkit, it is not fine when I run ICR2 (much
patched rendition version) and it appears as if the decal set is
oriented 180 degrees so the car is a patchwork of decal fragments and
blue background.  This failing, I try to replace the original IND95.pcx
design.
I delete my new car, copy IND95.PCX from a backup and try to swap.  Old
design appears in paintkit, botched new car appears in game.  Check all
file attributes, none are read-only.  I saved after every swap.
Desperation causes me to copy my backup of CARS95 to the CARS 95
directory.  Run game, driver info from backup is there, but so is
botched car.  What am I missing?

Second car is attempted using Windows paintshop.  Car looks great but
can only be saved in .car format.  Assuming I can swap it into another
carset for DOS - which I use to play ICR2, how can it be converted to
.pcx?

Also, the .pcx cars (decal sets) I downloaded from the net do not match
up to the templates
in Windows paintkit - they are smaller and cannot be used.  How can this
be addressed?

DOS paintkit is ver. 1.02.

I would also like to know if, or where, I can find PTkit33 (?) which I
have seen referred to in several expired links.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I spent a lot of time painting
these cars.

TIA

Help! ICR2 paintkit

Greetings Otto!

For the V3.3 of ICR2 paintkit, go on over to the Indy Extended Circuit at:
http://www.simracing.com/iec/iecnc/index.html
From there, click on the "Files" button in the header.  You may wanna look
around the site while you're there, too.  Our new Winter Series is just
kicking off this week at Gateway.  This season will feature N2 tracks only,
but there have been rumors of some N99 tracks being included in the IEC99
schedule nest spring.  Great chance to tune up for the upcoming season!

Hope this helps ya!
