Jan & Jed are working on it, I just hope they get it to us June 23, in
time for the Miller 400 at Daytona.  Who knows, that might just be the
release date.  Keep up the good work on the patch guys, we all
appreciate you work, even if we all are getting impatient.

Thanks

Thanks for being so understanding. Workin a 12 hour day does make it
kind of hard to motivate your self to write machine code.! ;-)

So you know, the actual track is pretty much finished. I'm awaiting
some new AI files to arrive and at present I need to write the
installation program.

The actuall EXE that patches the track is the bit that takes the
longest to write and is usually the one that needs the most work.

Correct, I am aiming for July as the release date. I'm desperatly
trying to organise time to write the patch and hopefully, it should be
done by the next race.

Uh, that would be the July 7 Pepsi 400 at Daytona.  The June 23 Miller 400 is
at Michigan.  Just a minor correction. :-)

At Talladega, the "dogleg" (turn 3), is the "tough" turn.

From playing the Sega version of Daytona, the turn at the end
of the long straightaway (turn 2) is the "tough" turn.

Will the Daytona patch be able to tune the track enough to
actually change these characteristics?

Thanks!

>At Talladega, the "dogleg" (turn 3), is the "tough" turn.

In the sim it is.  At the real Talladega, the tri-oval (or dogleg) is nowhere
near that tight, which has been one of my pet peeves with Papyrus.  It is the
one thing that I would most like to see changed in NASCAR racing.  BTW, in
correct NASCAR terminology, this "turn" is not considered a turn.  The turns
at the south end of the track (leaving the front straight and exiting onto the
backstretch) are considered turns 1 & 2, while the turns at the north end
(leaving the backstretch to exiting onto the front straight) are considered
turns 3 & 4.  The dog-leg is commonly called the tri-oval, since it's the
section of the track that makes it a tri-oval.

That would actually be turn 3, and don't even try to compare the Sega version
to anything in reality.  It just simply doesn't compare, although, it would
make sense that turn 3 would be a tougher turn because it has a tighter
entrance.

I think Jed has changed the grip a bit, but as far as the configuration of the
track, I don't believe he has the means to do that.  I'm also not sure if he's
found out how to move the start-finish line.  Unlike Talladega, the
start-finish line at Daytona lies right in the middle of the tri-oval.

Yikes... I didn't think so, Pat!!! I don't know how many times I've
seen 'em run 2-wide through there and the only way I can get through it
at WOT on the game is if I stay low.
