Does anyone have any information on what type of potentiometer could be
used as a replacement for the one in the Thrustmaster 1 wheel. I e-mailed
Thrustmaster for a price on their tune-up kit, but have not herad back from
them.

I had thought that the Pot in my T2 was completely shot - The dot in the
NASCAR calibration screen would jump all over the place, especially when I
steered to the right - so this wasn't a big problem on ovals, except I'd
occasionally smack into the wall when steering right.
Well, finally, I couldn't stand smacking into the wall anymore, so I popped
the screws off of my T2 to investigate. (I know nothing of Pots, how to
replace them, or how to fix them.) I took a bottle of paint thinner which I
happened to have sitting next to my PC and poured an ounce or two directly
on the Pot. I worked the wheel left and right for awhile, and then shot
some household "all purpose" oil into the Pot. I powered up my PC to see
the results of my mess - AND THE THING WORKED PERFECTLY - completely
flawless calibration. The paint thinner must have cleaned corrosion off of
the Pot contact. The oil eliminated the slight "squeaking"
Not sure if you are experiencing a similar problem, but that's what worked
for me.
There is a TV tuner solvent that can be purchased at places like Radio
Shack. I suggest using this in place of the paint thinner, which may
corrode plastic parts etc. I have done this to a T2 pot and I agree - it
fixes a lot of evils.

The only problem you could now face ( I hope you do not) is that the
oil may now accumulate dust and grit. Good Luck

As a follow-up to my original post, I just received 2 pots free of charge
and
no postage fee from Thrustmaster. I also did not have to show proof of
purchase. They only mentioned an e-mail address if I would like to purchase
the tune-up kit at a later time. I second your comment on Pretty amazing
service!! Thank You Thrustmaster.
