There is only 1 version of NR99.  When you install it after you have the
choice between the DOS version of the WIndows9x version.

I would suggest you to wait until Nascar Racing 3 in about 2months, if you
can wait, because NR99 will be outdated.

If you can get NR1999 *REALLY* cheap (like buy my copy) then do
it and play the W95 version. You will not be able to do multiplayer
but you can play the game.

Also as someone else mentioned you probably are better off
waiting for N3. I removed my T2 and am selling it on ebay and
am selling my copy of NR1999. I am eagerly awaiting N3.
However.... Today is your lucky day! I'll sell you my copy of
NR1999 for $15 and even pay the shipping if you live in the
US. Send email if you are interested.

Come on over to TEN and get your free account to race online!  The demo
version of NROS allows you to race at Atlanta and Watkins Glen for free.
Dropped my TEN account a few months ago but have found myself back on TEN
racing Atlanta for free.  There are a few guys there who are doing
consistent 184's and 185s...im still trying to improve my 182s!

Imagine racing against 22 other people online (at least at Atlanta) :)

Hey no problem. I'm sure your "retail" version will work better
than my "used" version. Better yet, if you really want to pay
$23, I can UP my price :-)
