N2 Missing Component?

In my N2 user manual on page 63, it makes reference to a "Show Counter" check
box on the options > controls screend.  They show a picture of it in the book.
It is supposed to display the frame rate for you while you are driving so I
guess you can use the information to make the appropriate adjustments to your
frame rates.  My CD version of the game that I just bought doesn't have this
feature.  Does everyone have this problem or do I get to be special?

Just one of the many bugs/omissions in the product.  Sierra decided to
release the program when it was 90-95% complete.  No crippling
bugs/omissons that I know of, just annoying ones.  Sierra has done all of
us a disservice.  Indications are that all of these bugs/omissions won't be
fixed until Nascar3 (and we'll probably have to pay for it to boot!).

It was left out of the shipping product, but was present in the betas.

Hey, why give patches away for free when you can charge for them?  Just
call the patched software a new version and whammo--instant cash.

That's exactly the way EA Sports does things.

No counter was included in the finished product.
The easiest way to get a good indication of your frame rate is via the use
of the 'automatic' graphics in conjunction with adjustment to your max/min
frame rate settings.  Pick something like the sky (2) or trees (0) to
operate  in 'automatic' and then adjust the min/max settings.  When you see
the graphic that you have chosen flicker in and out, that is the closest
you will get to an indication of the frame rate.

Well if they think Im paying for a patch or update or whatever you want to
call it when they should have fixed it before they released it they are
crazier than they look.
