Stagger (ICR2), help me...

I'm a little confused here. I read that stagger will compensate for the
fact that one wheel is turning faster than the other. I can see that it
will work for ovals, but what is the use in street racing (road courses).
In most cases you'll make about equally as much left turns as right hand
turns.

Could some one help me on this, and coorect me if I'm wrong.

Well, if you're lapping clockwise (e.g. Elkhart Lake), you will be
making more right hand turns than left hand - think about it <g>

Whether it helps is another matter - depends on the speed of the
corners, I suppose!

Actually, this isn't true for most closed circuit courses. No matter what
the combination of left-handers and right-handers, you have to go 360
degrees more in one direction than the other to close the circuit.
Exceptions are courses like Suzuka and Fiorano, where the track crosses
over itself and there is an equal amount of left and right hand turning.

I have found at Clevland in particular a little stagger can help
those high speed right handers

Stagger has always been something of a mystery for me on road courses.  It
does seem to make putting power down slightly more difficult.  For eg, at
Detroit, a right hand turning circuit, I experimented on putting POSITIVE
stagger, or going the opposite way, and it made the car easier to handle
coming out of the right hand hairpin.

I've also noticed that the rear-end isn't so "grip ON - grip OFF" with
slight stagger on road-courses.  The rear end seems stick with a smoother
transition.  The same situation happens at ovals, but usually you want the
"OFF" mode to drift the car for top times.

If anyone has anything to add, please.  I've played icr and icr2 for
18months now and still have much to learn.
