Now GPL wont run at all - HELP!!

Never mind will it work with a Geoforce card, GPL
cant see the disc in my new Samsung CDRW 16X
drive, if I put the disk in the play/setup/intro menu
comes up OK, the intro video will play, but if I select play,
the 3DFX logo and the GPL title screen come up, then
I get the 'please insert the CD' screen every time.

As everything else works OK, I wonder if GPL doent deal with
a disc spinning this fast, and if I can hobble the drive using software?

Someone must've had this happen before?

Please help before I damage something, hopefully inanimate.

If u have 2 cd drives then use the other . GPL can only load from 1 drive if
u have 2. Also ther is a no-cd fix at http://www.papy.com

Hi Dan, tried the CPU patch, but no different. Only have one drive,
could install both with a different IDE cable, but I bet GPL would look
at the wrong drive unless I reinstalled.

Why wont my new drive read the GPL disk though?

I dunno, i know its a prob with the gpl cd that when u have 2 drives of any
kind gpl will only work when u have it in 1 of them. U shouldnt need the cd
anyway ..i havnt used my gpl cd in yrs, just the no-cd fix

Maybe it is a problem with the CD-ROM drive.  Perhaps it takes too long
to spin up.  Does it do it with other games?

One other alternative would be to get a copy of Daemon Tools and Clone
CD.  Make an .img of GPL on your HD with Clone and then select it with
Daemon Tools.  This is how I run my version of GPL.

I have heard of problems with Samsung drives, but I also experienced a
similar problem with GPL recognising the disc in the CD reader and
aksing for the CD in the drive - you shouldn't need the CD in the
drive to play the game, I applied the no-cd patch and it works fine
without the CD.
