a synthetic benchmark for years. Whenever I upgrade something, as soon as
everything seems to be working, I play solitare to see how fast the cards
bounce after winning a game. With win98se, everytime I add a faster piece,
the cards have sped(?) up. <Gotten faster> So I can tell pretty quickly
if I made a good choice or if I have a problem. If I win in win98, the
whole process takes about 1 second now with my current box which is a
generation or two behind what I put in my son's computer.
After putting lots of new stuff in my son's box I played solitare until
I won..I won't say how long THAT took. :) But he has Win2k, and when I
won a game of solitare, the cards floated down like I had a 286 with
windows 3.1. Is the solitare in win2k fixed so that it doesn't go faster
based on hardware speed when the cards tumble after a win?
ANd while we are on the subject of win2k, what's with that 60hz screen
refresh? I seem to remember folks talking about it..but how do you fix
it(i.e use a faster screen refresh rate) with an ATI card??
