new lotus dash for download

HI all,
The 3do file is provided only to render the slimmer needles on the gauges,
no other mods were applied. The dash7.mip file should be usable without the
3do, just replace the default.

Yes you wouldn't think a single MIP file would cause such a
problem, but unfortunately it does on my system.  The 3DO
file however works fine.

Mine won't work either. I can load tracks if I delete the mip and keep the
3do, but not the other way around. Could it have anything to do with video
cards or resolution?

yes very strange.....thanks all for the testing though......working on a new
Lotus dash now (based on some feedback) as well as beginning the
Eagle....see if that makes a difference.
These are not small files, definitely not 16 color which is the
default...not sure of that has anything to do with the problems......

The problem now Marc, is that we've seen the  new dash and want it. If it
looks as good in the car as it does on the site, I'll be driving the Lotus a
lot more.

Good guess...I use 1024x768 and I'll bet that higher resolutions may cause a
problem...????

Bad guess...resolution makes no difference.  Switched to software renderer
and instead of can't load track error, just got booted to desktop.

The 3do works fine...gives the narrower needles, but the mip sure has a
strange problem!

Do you have any idea what the problem is?  Why some can use it no problem,
while others get the track loading error?

Could it be a pallette incompatibility problem?

to be honest I have no idea......I use this with stock .dat files (not sure
of they changed through 1.2.0.1) and with every revision I load GPL after
MIP conversion....I have had errors in development but I had removed too
many files, etc......I have a slightly modified 3d0 from what we
offered......but it still works fine when I replace my entire lotus
directory with the contents of the zip file (with lotus.dat in place of
course).
it has been downloaded 140 odd times so far and I think the # of problems is
below 10 (?) that I have heard of. My testing system is as follows:
PIII-533B
128MB RAM
Diamond Viper 770 using reference drivers under Win2K and Win98.
U.S. Version of GPL patched to 1.2.0.1 with disco patch.
In game I use OpenGL patch beta 2 at 1024*768, detail slider 1/2 way,
mirrors every 2 frames......

Did you read the solution posted under another thread? That person
converted the size of the image from 512x256 to 512x128 and it worked
for him.

I get can't load track error I have tried all resolution without success the
3do file on it own works and makes the neeedles thinner but with the
dash7.mip with or without the 3do files kicks up the can't load track error.

Bob

I loaded  Andrew Olley's***pit files yesterday and had the same problem. I

The***pit files now load fine...
Ah! The joys of software!
