ICR2 sound comes and goes....

by Craig Marc » Tue, 05 Dec 1995 04:00:00

Funny thing, my icr2 sound was working great, could hear Paul Page and music at
intro, then suddenly with NO changes whatsoever, no voices, no music. Engine sounds
are still here. BUT, when I run in vga mode, voices come back! Exit game, restart
game in SVGA, engine noise, no Paul Page. Huh. Anyone have any idea what the deal
is? Thanks,

I think you got it exactly! You see, this weekend, I "borrowed" 16 megs from my work
machine, and added it to my 8, and everything worked great. But when Monday rolls
around and I'm reduced to 8 meg again, the voice dissappears! Does Paul Page speak
anywhere else besides the intro?

If you only have 8 megs of memory, this is your problem.  SVGA takes
more memory than VGA.  Running in SVGA doesnt leave enough memory for
Paul Page to speak on an 8 meg system.  This comes from someone on
compuserve.  Does make sense though.

Methinks you are short on memory.  I have the same problem on an 8MB
system, but no problem at all on a 24MB system.

Simply creat that boot disk using that setup program from ICR2. I
have only 8Megs of RAM. I am able to hear Paul, Music, Engine,
tire, and crash noises, in digitized form, whether I am in VGA or
SVGA when I use the boot disk!

I tried to make a boot disk, but the program says it can't. So I'm stuck in
VGA w/little sound until I can figure out why I can't create a boot disk.
Any suggestions on why the program refuses to make a boot disk for me.
