As soon as crucial start dropping the price again, I'm getting some more...
it sucks having only 256MB of very overclockable PC133 Cas2... It will run a
lot higher than the 140FSB  it's at now, but my other stuff won't.

But of course it is. It had to, after all I got me a new system LAST
WEEK!

Screwed again. <sigh>

Does anyone have experience of this (Crucial PC133 Cas2) getting to 160FSB
whilst retaining Cas2 settings and not having to roll back to 3,3,3 7/9
(Asus CUSL2).

Cheers.

It's happened to us all at some point. I bought my SB Live 5.1 a couple of
weeks before they released the Audigy and prices dropped like a stone. I
bought 64MB of ram for 25 and just a short while later you could 128MN for
under 20.

I'm happy if I can get another 256 of crucial for under 30.

It'd be even better if Crucial started making PC2700 memory.  Their PC2100
that I have won't do 166 MHz on my new DDR333 motherboard.

hehe, I remember buying two 4MB sticks of 72pinn SIMM's for $536 and
thinking I'll never need to buy memory again cuz why would you ever need
more than 8 MB of RAM???!!!

Hah.... I remember upgrading my Old Olivetti to 2MB, doubling it's memory
and thinking... that'll do the trick... Luckily I got the Ram for free.

I remember getting 4 16K static ram memory boards for my Northstar Z80 CPM
machine and thinking that would last forever.

Seems like every computer I have bought since then has been "the last
computer I'll ever need."

Now I have more mem then that on my video card.  :O)

I paid 150$ for my intel 14,400bps modem in '93, followed by $250 for my 512MB WDC hardrive  a week later.
Also paid $200 for four sticks of 30 pin SIMMS....that's 4 MB! I was stylin' with my 486sx25!

Funny over the years I must have ended up with lot's of 72pin simm's
1meg, 4megs, 8megs, even some 16 & 32 ones, just sitting in a box
was going to throw then out, lucky I kept them, as I have got a Xerox
laser printer, & had a look at the ram upgrade, it had a 72pin sim slot
you guest the rest...

I got the 1MB ram upgrade for mine for about 200. In fact I still have 2
Amigas sitting in the cupboard, complete with everything including scanner,
printer and a large box of software. It's sat next to an Atari ST 1040 with
monitor, scanner and large box of software... and that's sat next to an old
Amstrad 1640 PC, which also works and has Wordperfect still installed.

What can I say, I collect junk... one day it might be worth something.

Youngsters!
A buddy bought some surplus (very cheap at the time) core memory in the mid
1970's -- about $100 per "plane" of 4096 bits, iirc.  Each plane came
packaged in a shielding "box" about the size of a sheet of letter paper and
1/2 inch (1cm) thick.  This was going to be enough memory for the only
computer he was ever going to need...which would let him play Space War
(among other things).

Then a few years later, Intel got the price of ram down far enough that
another friend started the "Cent-a-byte" company -- reselling this ram to
hobbyists in small quantities for US$ 0.01 (one cent) per 8-bit byte.
