Well this TV deal NASCAR worked out really SUX!  WTF is FX channel?  I just
called my cable co and they don't, nor do they plan on carrying this
channel.  What a load of crap!  I havent missed a race (Cup, Busch) due to
programming in years and this is how Nascar repays us?  What a great way to
start off the racing season huh. :-/

Quote from Helton:

Nascar fans will greatly benefit from this TV deal and it will propel Nascar
into the new millennium.

Well it may have "propelled" nascar but it left us, the fans in the dust!

Seperate channel.  Available with most digital cable or satelite
packages.  Mostly plays reruns of old shows (MASH, X-Files, etc) and
the occasional movie.  Most annoying commercials known to mankind.

And shows 'extra' Nascar related stuff kind of like ESPN used ESPN2
for sometimes.

No, FX is a staion, much like a USA or TBS that shows old sitcoms and dramas,
alnog with bad original programming. :)

Yes it is, but the Busch races, 3 Cup races, the Winston, and happy hour are on
FX which a lot of cable companies (like mine) do not carry. I had to get a dish
to see them. So now I have both cable and a dish. I agree, Thanks a lot.

I knew that one day we would get screwed by money, and that day has come for
some.

Just like I can't watch F1 becuase it's on that damned SpeedVision, some
will miss Nascar Races because of this deal.

It's all about money, and forcing people to buy things they don't want.

I hate to say it, but Nascar has sold out IMHO...

No, FX is YAFC (Yet Another Fox Channel).

You have Fox the TV Station, FX the Cable Channel and Fox Sports, the Sports
Network.

All 3 are in different Satellite packages, and the only way to get all 3 is
to get the expensive $83/month Platinum Choice on DirecTV.

These bastards know _exactly_ what they are doing.

I am lucky enough to get them all with my local cable company.

Unfortunately, I do not get SpeedVision or ESPN Classic

And you're first clue was???

It didn't take a genius to figure that one out.  The moment they announced who
was going to be 'The Official Network(s) of NASCAR" you had to see that the ride
went to the party with the biggest check, not the best shot of doing the sport
justice.  Hmmm.  Looks like we're catching up to Indycar....

Check out my thoughts in the thread about the relationship with Fox being
doomed.

You and me both.  :(

Of course, that's why the cable companies put the good stuff on those networks.
To incite us to beg our cable companies to add them so they can jack up cable
rates.

well, yes- it's a station, but it IS Fox's cable station...

It is a FOX station and generally comes in premium cable packages
but is in almost every general satellite package. I have to pay an
additional $11.00 a month to my cable station to watch NASAR
this year but it's most likely cheaper than the next step. A NASCAR
owned and operated "pay-per-view" station.
