Its easy really and I don't understand how they stuff it up so many times.

You tap the accelerator 4 times
Press the blue button once
Tap the brake 2 times
Wiggle the steering wheel to and froe 3 times
Press the orange button twice
Turn the green dial with the white numbers to the 6 position
Turn the white dial withe the green numbers to the 9 position
Press the white button
Flick the yellow switch
Press the red button

And you're away. What's the *&^%$ problem ? A Swiss systems engineer
explained it to the Finnish driver in English - so what could go wrong ? My
grandmother could do this !

Not sure about that.  I've seen many a real life F1 race where a fast
guy, starting from the back, hasn't lasted more than half a dozen laps
before trying some kamikaze overtaking manouevre.  I think DC learnt
from his last rear-of-the-field start this year when he lost his nose-
cone pretty early on, which cost him quite significantly.   He wasn't
going to make the same mistake twice.

>I also enjoyed Monaco
>> yesterday, I was laughing 46 laps long with poor David stuck behind
>> Bernoldi :)))

For which Ron Dennis now takes team responsiblility despite having
previously called DC a "stupid idiot" for his previous stall.

Can somebody please explain in simple terms to a non-F1 fan (unless it's
1967 cars) what launch control is and how it works?

I would be an F1 fan if they'd just race at a reasonable time - it's usually
just too damn early in the morning in the Pacific Time Zone. Everything
should be scheduled for my convenience <g>

I simple terms the driver is not in control of the throttle at "launch,"
such being delegated to an onboard computer.

The idea being that the computer can get the maximum acceleration with
minimum wheel spin better than a human driver can.

Certain parameters cannot be supplied to the computer by sensors, such as
the exact grip the tires are GOING to have once they start turning, and a
guess must be made by a human being and programed into the computer.
Sometimes the guess is wrong resulting in the car stalling at the start.

Sometimes, as appears to be the case with DC, the computer just plain dosn't
work.

No,
they used shareware and the granted testing period expired at 13.55 hours.
