Just another codec.  You can also get the MS codec pack from there site but
I don't believe it has mpeg4.

Even WM9 doesn't have a divx codec.  You can download the divx codec at
www.divx.com.

Hello, Mika...

That is a bit incorrect.  Any track can be converted, but unlike the very early converters, these tracks require some
modification to work correctly (thus the reason that there is not a "generic" converter to convert ANY GPL track).  The reason
that David has only done his and original GPL tracks is because the last time he converted a few tracks from other authors (in
the free GPL > N3 converter), a few authors raised a big stink about it.  Dave will no longer convert any track that is made by
3rd party authors for this reason.

Whether he continues to do this for N2003 I don't know, but I can definitely say that he will NOT convert anything unless the
author contacts him directly...

Cheers!

I use Divx, but I don't want to have to keep installing Codecs on my
machines all the time.  It's just non-standard.

Like the guy who insists on compressing stuff using the TAR format.

Only the Pro version if you don't pay for a license.  Unless they changed
it.

Divx is a codec, not an application, although there is a Divx player as
well.

Actually, he is correct.

The Pro version is ad-supported if you don't pay for it.

It was a very controversial move when version 5 came out.

You have to DL both, but when installing you can chose not to install
the player

it is available as a wholly separate dload.  I assume either at the divx
site or major dload houses.

I don't believe they distribute the codec without the player any longer.

Oh, you are talking about the low-res version in .wmv format.  Correct, any
MP7+ will play that.  The rest of us were referring to the codec needed for
the high-res version .avi file.

Hmmm... if it's up to WM8, it will even work on WMP6.4; but the WM9 codecs
require WMP7.1+ to be installed, it seems (well, I can always try to see
if it will do a forced install...)
