until I get it right.  Is there anywhere else besides OPEN GL where I can
disable v-sync?  I don't have that option in my GEFORCE 256 folder, even under
MORE 3D.  Since I am not using OPEN GL does this make a difference?

Have you searched the Windows Registry? You'll most likely find the option
to enable or disable it in the registry.

You have to download a utility called "coolbits" to disable vsync in
D3D. Can't tell you where to get it because I don't have a Nvidia
card. Try www.3dfiles.com

got it.  Thanks
Mike
P.S.  Turning off V-sync in D3D didn't do a gosh darn thing for frame rate.  Oh
Well (shrug)

Here's a copy of coolbits just double click it.

I know this is not a binaries group but it's so small.

And it really shouldn't unless your frame rates are going higher than
the refresh rate of your monitor.  And since most folks have their
refresh rates set in the 85-120 Hz area....

It can cause problems because it syncs to refrshes so if you have a refresh
of 80mhz and your pc can't get up to 80fps it would be trying to sync every
2 refreshes locking you at 40fps. for GPL 72mhz is the only refresh that
fits GPL's 36 fps frame lock so if you use anything other then that with
vsync on you would get framerate problems.
