Speculation - why is GP2 late...

>Any other suggestions?

It's much more likely it's going through what every game program (or
any other program, for that matter) goes through at the end of the
project: debugging and optimization. The time required for both of
these tasks cannot by known in advance (not as well as programming new
features can anyway), so the date keeps "slipping".

It's almost inconceivable that they're adding features at this late
date. If they are, don't expect to see the game before June or July.

Another reason for the delay is that he is waiting for the further drop
price of cpu and ram. By the time of early May, P5-133 (the minimun
requirement of SVGA mode with high detail and acceptable frame rate)
hopefully to be cost $250 to $300 and $180 or less for 16M 60ns NEC ram.
So more people can upgrade their hardware at that time and more people
can enjoy playing this lovely game.

Your knowledge of marketing is truly awe-inspiring. I prostrate myself
at the feet of the world's greatest marketing guru - however did you see
through MPS subtle strategy?

Truth is, they could release it ANYTIME and make millions. Immediately
before the Melbourne GP would have been best...

2 points here.

First off I heard this exact same line from one of the beta testers, they're
waiting for technology to catch up a bit. Of course none of this helps the vast
majority of poor slobs that can't afford to buy a new P33 even if it is a
whopping $300 less.

Also, reguarding frame rate. Hopefully this thing will run acceptable on P75,s
p90s and P100s with some of the detail off. I mean, with Nascar, you need a
P133 to run everything at full detail and get smooth frame rate. but one can
run without the crowds, grass or road texture on and get fine frame rate (w/ a
P90) for example. I guess it all depends on the configurablity of the graphics
engine.

I'm smart, that's all. ;)
