GP2 - engine fire?

Hi all,

I've been running GP2 for 3 weeks now and have yet to see
an engine catch fire.  Do I need to set something on the
option screen for possible failures?

Thanks,
  Dennis

Yeah... Turn every thing on in the options.
I knock Jean Alesi in to the wall at the last turn at San Marino.
He hit the wall then caught on fire. It was pretty kewl !

I've also seen some engines let go right in front of me.

Just make sure all the graphics in the options and realism setting are turn on.

I don't think so - I was running several cars behind Herbert the other
day at Estoril when his car suddenly burst into flame - no precipitating
trail of smoke beforehand - due to an oil leak.  I have not modified
the option screen for this.  I have the saved game/replay of this if you
need it.

First time I saw this I had to stop and watch.  Incredible effects,
too bad Indycar 2 and Nascar were not like this!!!!

Hope they haven't implemented the Benetton Bar-B-Q fuel fiasco...

Imagine this... pulling into your pit  and wooof... car on fire..

Could be cool, but don't really like the idea :)

You'll need to turn smoke on in graphics detail menu to see flames.  The
realism options (car failures) affect only the player's car.  Engines on
CC cars will blow up regardless of this setting.

My advice: Deselect all drivers in "driver/team selection menu", run a
10-20% race and set computer camera director on (Insert key).  It will
switch into flaming, smoking, overtaking, etc cars automaticly.  Pay
close attention to those track officials in asbestos suits;-)

I blew my own engine while racing Estoril last week. My car's display
said "engine problem", and I quickly lost power, after which the engine
died. A quick jump to the external views showed lots of flames and smoke
pouring from the back of my car.  8-(

Dave I agree with you completely, why there have never been engine
failures with smoke effects such as those in GP2 in Papys products I
cant help but wonder.

Surely these guys have watched enough racing on TV to be aware of
this<g>!

The only thing missing in GP2 is the bang when something lets go and
wheel lockup and such with trans falures, lets hope someday someone gets
it all right :)

Yup cars will burst into flames. You don't always see it but if you
see engine trouble listed at the end of the race the chances are there
was a fire.

Best I saw was at Silverstone, Schmacher was some way in front,
noticed what looked like a cloud of dust. As I drew near there was a
trail of smoke - really ***ed the fps - and as I passed I saw the
flames.

I have also had a fire myself after setting myself to be subject to
failiures under the options.

There is a menu in the game somewhere one menu where you can select
what may happen to you... I believe through driving Options...
