Manx TT: Glide! Alright Sega!

I just picked up Manx TT. Native 3DFX support right out of the box.
In spite of their problems with 3DFX, Sega did the right thing, in my
opinion.
I'm glad to see some big companies are turning their backs
on Direct 3D.  While I like the _idea_ of Direct 3D, I don't think its
ever going to give adequate performance.

I haven't played it enough to give a review, but so far it's very fun.
It makes no real pretenses towards being a sim, but it's accurate
enough to enjoy.

I can't give exact frame rates for Manx, but they're easily in the
high 20's with detail/draw distance pegged on a P133.
There are no slowdowns, and the tracks have nice shadows, and a lot of
details like tree's, spectators and houses.

I hope the rumored 3D patch for Sega Rally Championship is this nice.

Good job Sega.

Is Manx another "plain jane" racer? That is, circuit tracks only, and
no gameplay but racing computer drones around and around? I'm hoping
for something with a little more gameplay, kind of like NFS1 (or Road
Rash) with it's non-circuit tracks and cop chases.

Too bad. Guess we'll have to wait for Road Rash 3D (which is in the
works apparently).

Yes. It actually is an arcade racer, but based on a real race.
I'd like a bike game with random, rolling terrain as well.
I bought a Playstation just for Road Rash, and it is still one of the
best cycle games I ever played (the Playstation basically collects
dust until company comes over).
