I think the real story here is just how much control the PUBLISHER has over
the creative works of SOFTWARE DEVLOLPERS.

It's truly sad what these publishers do to the developers and their
fans/customers.  They remind me of Loan Sharks.

Yes, we do.

Remember the mother of all debates here at r.a.s.? It took me a half an hour
to realize cars in GPL did not handle realistically.

It wasn't until Kaemmer finally said the same thing that many of you were
forced to admit the same thing a few years later. Imagine if I went back and
posted the 10 trillion posts by you experts which insisted I was wrong
(among other not so pleasant things), and the cars handled perfectly.

"Ouch".

There isn't a sim with cars that handle realistically.  There are
degrees of realism and immersion, however, and GPL is still in the top
3 driving simulations of all time in that regards.

There was a great post by Arnao on the Simbin forums recently where he
scoffed at how people are constantly comparing sims based how close to
reality they are, rather than how convincing they are.  At this point
in time, there are no sims comparable to GPL/N2002/F12002/GTR2002 in
terms of emulating the sensations that a real driver experiences while
pushing a car to the limit and beyond, and most experienced real-life
racers who also spend time with sims seem to have a formed a concensus
in that regard.

No simulation will ever handle cars realistically.

Maybe true, but surely the point is to get as close to realism as can be
achieved given the obvious restrictions of the artificial environment of a
PC.

Are you referring to the time Kaemmer said the tyre model in N2002 was
far superior to GPL's?

Still didn't take my advice about getting treatment then Gerr?

You're obsessed my boy, you really ought to try to get GP4 out of your
mind - most others have some time ago!

Right, Dave.

You're a genius.

We were all blind.  We weren't *actually* having a good time while
playing GPL, we only *thought* we were having a good time.

Mark -- it was the same with CPR! We were all suffering from mass
delusion, according to Dave, CPR was actually the best racing sim ever.

It took me all of half an hour to realize that CPR was the most
convincing racing sim ever!
