Disable on-board video card???

by Galle » Mon, 23 Nov 1998 04:00:00

I wasn't sure which group to ask, so I figured if anyone knew it would be a
gamer.
OK, I was finally able to install my STB Velocity 4400 TNT.  The only
problem is that the system is still using the Rage II+ that is on the
motherboard.  I understand that I am supposed to disable it, but how?
Simply removing it in the system, device manager doesn't work.  Do I have to
physically disconnect something on the motherboard?  I didn't have to do
this when I installed a Rage Pro Turbo.
When I hook up the monitor cable to the TNT, I get a message that says my
system has initialized this card, but I must adjust the display settings.  I
have to put the cable back on the standard VGA jack.  The only thing is I
change the settings, because as soon as I click on the settings tab, the
system freezes, and I must restart.  I guess this is due to some kind of
conflict.
Please help as STB tech support is closed until Mon.  F1RS, NFSIII and Viper
Racing are just dying to be played with "all the goodies"!

Check your BIOS for s setting to disable it or there might be a jumper
on the motherboard.

I imagine there's probably an option to disable it in your bios.  Hit delete
(or F1, or whatever) when you get a boot screen and go into your bios.  Look
for something like "Integrated peripherals" and you'll probably see an
option to disable the built-in video "card."

Failing that, look at yor motherboard manual--the maybe be a jumper you have
to switch.

Hi,
Im not positive this will work but you can try the 3D control
center. A very small utility which lets you choose which one of your video
cards to use. If you want I can e-mail it to you I believe its only 40kb.
