Im confused as to whether to set the steering to linear or non linear.
From the beginning I have had it set a quarter into the non linear but
Im locked in a do or die struggle on GPL world ranking and am
questioning everything.....well everything except my determination to
make my mark in the Red Car.

Can anyone explain the difference as to the affects while in car of
linear vs non.

The clutch's situation...I think the car is more stable for me with
more clutchs and will usually be running with 5. But is there a short
sharp sweet explanation regarding clutches and their affect...?

Thanks for any help.

Real cars use linear steering.  Non-linear is for joysticks where the
precision movements at the "top" of the joystick can get exaggerated just
because of the "top-heavy" design or the way you use a joystick.

If you have a decent wheel, there is not much of a question...all the way or
almost all the way to linear.

Marc.

Bonjour Pierre,

I'm no expert at tuning a GPL car, but I did notice that more clutchs will
make accelerating out of corners faster (more grip) , at the expense of
increased oversteering (tail wants to go out) .  So its a matter of
compromising.  I often have 3 clutchs in my setups.

My natural fluency in french unfortunately has long since left me much
to my dismay, now only to return in dire circumstances....such as
losing ones ticket and passport 2 hours prior to departure in Charles
De Gaulle. hehe.

Thanks that explains alot ....so its basically used to tune going into
and leaving corners. Ahhhhh....now I get it.

With Non-Linear the movement in the center is less sensitive. Is
intended for joystick users. It's best to put the slider as left you
can handle.

Clutches go together with the differential settings. More information

Oh Lords of GPL forgive this useless mortal I forgot to check the most
obvious source of Grand Prix Legends goodness, her highness herself,
Alison Hine.  Sheesh her page is so modest and so packed with
information....thanks Alison.

This besides the sheer brilliance of GPL is what makes this sim even
more brilliant...all the terrific people helping make it better.

In addition to what Rob said in a previous post about clutches, with more of
them, braking becomes more stable. The diff will lock earlier and the result
is that there is less of a chance of one wheel locking whilst the other
keeps turning.

Of course, the downside to this, as Rob says, is more chance of a breakaway
on exit.
