...the controller config issues are sorted out.

I can rip out all of my kit and just run with a MOMO, but that's naff.  Zero
immersion.  Having to actually remove unused controllers is also a major
bind.

Windows allows for multiple controllers.  How hard can it be for developers
to allow the use of them?

I use my TM F1 Pro pedals connected to gameport for gas/brake (split axis),
my T2 pedal connected to Rockfire for clutch, GPL shifter and MOMO.  No
problems in N2K2 and GPL.  Going "back" to the single controller, with
painfully bad pedals and being stuck with a semi auto sequential box is
damned infuriating...

Oh, and I'm unhappy with framerates once AI are come into play, but I
haven't done much digging on this one.

If it sounds like I'm being an ungrateful brat it's only because I think the
game has *phenomenal* potential, and I'd hate for it to stumble on something
as apparently simple as controller config - it's important to me...

C'mon - gimme a manual clutch and the ability to*** up gearshifts...

You sound like a complete to$$er to me.....

The 3 lads responsible have a website with a list of issues they will be
dealing with almost instantly, seeing as this is a beta demo i think the game
is excellent and we can put faith in them ,because if they can do this much
and then swiftly offer to provide patches i am very satisfied.

You just had a bad day and decided to moan/whinge about something thats so
good instead of something else that mighy warrant it.

Go play V8 Challenge and purr over it...arse

Considering its a demo that in the creators words is 6-12 months away from release, its excellent.
Quit your whining.

Wow.

I repeat:

I am *NOT* trying to ruffle feathers or whine, although I admit the title
sounded bad and there's nothing I can do to take it back.  I'll say it one
more time for the cheap seats "*PHENOMENAL* POTENTIAL".  That doesn't sound
like a whine to me.

Have a nice day,

release, its excellent.

Just reread my post and it came across badly.  The controller issue is
something that developers other than Papy seem to have real issues with.
It's a pet peeve of mine given the rather eccentric nature of my rig - which
is probably very tame compared to more *** RASers out there.  I'll
appologise openly if I piised anyone off for that was not my intention.  At
least you didn't call me an arse ;)

But I'll repeat this bit as this is where I actually comment on the game:

"*phenomenal* potential."  OK?  different words that say "Considering its a
demo that in the creators words is 6-12 months away from release, its
excellent"

We actually agree, but I just wanted to give constructive feedback (so it's
not my strongpoint).  Hell, if the developers want to use my system as a
multi-controller nightmare test rig they can email me.  I don't hide my
email addy.

Not to labour the point, but... ;)

LFS, in it's current state, save the abilty to use my controllers, is worth
money now.  With the promise of addons and enhancements, I'd pony up and pay
my dues as and when a mod came along that took my fancy.

Gimme the core game and multi controller mod for manual clutch, direct gear
selection, etc and I will give you moolah.

I just paid 15 notes to convert some tracks to N2K2 (which'll no doubt be
floating around the 'net right now) because I thought the work deserved to
be rewarded...

Right.  I *hope* I've got my POV across now...

Two people have got controllers right in all sim racing history.

Ash Mc C, and Papy.

I'll keep my mouth shut until they make it work with ECCI wheels.

Mark -- I agree. Good papy-like controller configuration should be at
the core. surely it's easier to get this aspect working first, not at
some point near the middle or end of development?

I don't know why you're getting flamed. Too many people playing racing
games with a gamepad in this ng i would wager.

Cheers

Mark,

Please remember that what you are playing is a very early beta. Its just not
realistic to expect minor things like multiple controllers to be sorted at
this point of development.

Consider yourself lucky that there are already some nice menus and that you
don't have to manually edit text files to choose cars or tracks! Online play
and pretty good reliability are an added bonus for this level of
development.

Regards,
Tim
