I seem to be experiencing a very strange problem, which is obviously due
to a conflict between my Gravis GrIP system and my Modem, but I'm unsure
as to how I can fix it.
Last week I noticed that my web speed had gotten considerably slower. I
was unable to get anything more than 1.5K a second on downloads and web
pages were taking forever to load. At first I thought it was a driver
problem (as I had recently updated my modem driver), but the problem
continued when I used the older driver again. I also removed my COM
ports, modem etc from the device manager and let Win95 auto detect them
and reinstall them.
However, none of these fixed the problem, so I thought it might be my
ISP. However, no one else was experiencing the problem.
I then used System Monitor to see exactly what was happening.
Immediately I could see that the number of CRC errors and Overrun errors
was rising sharply.
After two days of trying to fix the problem I suddenly noticed that it
disappeared when I was using my GrIP system in pass-through mode. I
switched it back to GrIP mode and the problem reappeared. I did this a
few times just to check it wasn't a coincedence. It seems that when my
GrIP system is operating is GrIP mode the communication with my modem is
affected. However, if it's in pass-through mode then there is no
problem.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening, and if so, any idea how
to resolve it ?
Many thanks
Andrew
