Are you kidding? I have tried many times. She has a Pentium 200 with
Sounblaster32 and Intergraph Reactor, 17inch monitor and a choice of
wheels, joyticks, etc. I have a ethernet network between the computers
with .01 latency.

I can't get her to play for nuthin. I have tried many times as I would like

a rela life racing partner to practice with. She doesn't understand why
I like to go around in circles for hours on end. What gives?

Regards,
        ---Wayne.

You are lucky. My wife doesn't mine watching me race real
cars but she seems to draw the line at electronic racing.
Just not a real racer.

I built a P133 for a friend of mine recently, and he bought me N2
for a Xmas present... I got the N2 to work great on my machine P120,
and he bought a copy for himself so we could play over the phone...  I
installed N2 on his machine, and can't get the joystick to work...  I
tested everything, and even during the install the joystick 'passed'...
And we tested it too (full motion on the square, and 2 buttons work
fine).  When we try to set up/calibrate the controls in OPTIONS,
nothing...  The slide bar doesn't move, or anything... When you hit a
button on the joystick (while trying to calibrate), the screen goes
back to options (so it at least sees the joystick because the button
did something...)

I checked the joystick in control panel (W95), it was correct... I
even brought my setup (CH Pilot, Ch Pedals which works on my machine)
and got the same results...  The joystick works fine in FSW95, F22, and
other W95 games...  He HATES playing with the keyboard, and tech
support in Washington State is snowed under...

Any body else have this problem???   Thanks in advance!

My thoughts exactly. I already got the second comuter and the enternet
between em.
(tried to get her to race with me, no luck)

We had an ultrasound done and it is a boy. Cool! Only problem is I will
have to
wait a few years. By that time NRO will have crowned a few champs and I
want
to be one.

Had this problem on 1 system of mine as well. Was the newest system. The only
system with the newest version of Win '95 with Fat32. I tried everything,
everything. Finally I formatted and installed the regular version of '95 used
on the other 3 systems and the joystick worked again. I can't say 100% this is
it, but again I tried a LOT of things and the moment I ditched the latest
win'95, Nascar 2 joystick calibration worked.

I've been talking to a guy over on the rec.models.rc.land newsgroup who has
this problem with Serpent Racing's VRC-1.  It is an adaptor to allow using
an R/C transmitter to play computer games.  He has similar problems, saying
eh cannot calibrate it from the option controls menu, but during the
install it seemed to work for him.

guys can put your heads together to figure this one out..

Joystick problems here also. It seems every 4-5 loads on N2 the routine
reverts back to keyboard and I have to re-do the Joystick set-up routine.
Must be a bug. (either in the program or me)

I have noticed that when I start N2 from Win95, sometimes my
joysticks do not register.  When I calibrate within N2 some (or all)
of the axes report a constant -1, while some axes might calibrate
normally.  This hasn't happened if I shutdown win95 to DOS mode or run
in DOS 6.2.  I haven't tested enough to see if its a Rendition vs.
SVGA thing.  If I restart N2 a second time it usually works.  I'm
using a CH Auto3 joystick card and a Reactor video card.

Pick one or more: Model Rockets (competition-NERCB) / PCs (even Atari!) /
Papyrus ICR-ICR2-NCR / Who needs a life when you have multiple non-lives?

I have found that the Microsoft joystick driver is crap.  It
periodically drops out or doesn't calibrate at all, whenever it feels
like it.  I install and run all of my games out of the "restart the
computer in MSDOS mode" setting, and have absolutely no problems.

Nope, not Win 95b (OSR2) per se. I'm using that version, although I've
chosen to remain with FAT16 for compatibility. Running TM T2 through TM
ACM gamecard, calibrated under Win95's routine, & checked under DOS via
TM's TMS.EXE. Detects and calibrates in NASCAR 2 no problem under DOS,
irrespective of whether I boot directly to DOS 7.1 or via shutting down
Win95. System is 32Mb iP5-133 with other gameport on Sb16PnP disabled.

Same applies to my other system, similar & also Win95b, except no TM ACM
g/c. Gameport used is the SB16PnP default enabled. So far I've only
tried the joystick (CH flightstick) on this one, but it calibrates and
works as expected.

BTW, I use CTLOAD to load my (real mode) CD device driver when required
and CTCM for (real mode) SB16PnP use when booting directly from DOS.

Hope this info assists.

My problems were similar, and yes my wife's name is Kimberly "Kim".
You noticed I said "were", well let me tell you what I did. To start with
I have to take Her to Daytona, in both February and July. NO PROBLEM with
me, I am an avid Nascar fan from the start. Then the other thing......
Please, I am not trying to offend anyone with my next statement, but I
have to watch and root for Dallas during the season. To most I'm sure
this is confusing, but to me (Dolphins) my only football team has been
and will remain Miami. Win or lose.
Hey it works for me.
Now I get NO GRIEF. :)

Well you are using 95b so IMO it could still be that. Honestly I'm not sure if
my system was using Fat 32 or not, I didn't have it loaded long enough or
cared enough to really check that at the time. So maybe then some sytems with
95b won't calibrate N2 joysticks under windows, since I see you do have a
system with 95b working with Nascar.

God Bless you, your gonna need it. It was a pain in the ass for me. Get rid of
95b is my final word on it. Good luck.

Very Interesting. This is definetly a problem specific to Kim's and
Christines. I recommend to all N2 ***s that they stay away from
Kim's and Christine's as they have a deep rooted psycological
problem regarding Nascar2 and Racing in general.

Frank,

Problem for me is even worse. Check this out. My Kim version does
not even like football. For that matter she hates all sports. Man I
am screwed. And to make it worse she wants out little boy (on the
way 7mos pregnant) to do arts and ***like that. (I am
gettin him a mini sprint as soon as he can sit up.):
