Micropose's GP2 "game" and the Halloween

Hi all.

I'm an unofficial GP2 tester. I care about quality control and work
for free for the universal consumer rights.

The real Formula 1 world has indeed many imperfections but you won't
see the drivers performing like the computer cars of Mr. Crammond and
his comets. Even because the real drivers have to care about their car
which costs lot of efforts and money to the team and also they have to
care about their lifes and/or physical integrity.

In fact, you won't see so many drivers with an eternal Halloween
spirit, making tricks all over any of those several circuits. Of
course there would be  "closing  doors",  malicious, mistakes and
others. However, if they did like in  GP2,  Formula 1 would be a real
field of battle, a war full of anger and  that sport would be over by
itself.

What is most stupid in GP2 is the waste of processing to make it more
distant from the real thing. Still the same problem that happened to
GP1.

WHY TO INCLUDE ADDITIONAL TRICKS in a otherwise more real game???
Besides unreal,  it upsets the users -- for nothing -- once they can't
finish the race or have to be glad with crazy results.
I'm not refering to the bugs. I'm refering about the intentionally
included. That seems mental problem's influence.

Consumers will eternally still have to wait for a new Microprose game
that could  ethically be called  SIMULATOR by the owner's manual. As
long as the trick-phylosophy insists toward eternity.

Thank you fellows for reading and for the attention..

Fernando Assis.

What the hell is this guy waffling on about?

If he's a tester for GP2 then I'm Damon Hills race engineer!!!!

If he IS a tester for GP2, then it could explain why it has so many
things missing?

Why is it that this group has become nothing but pissing and moaning
about how awful all the sims are today. Maybe instead of attempting top
cope with the "problems", we should go back to playing Indy 500 and Test
Drive.  People are crying how GP2 isn't giving them 30fps in SVGA with
all the details turned on.  Hey, I'm playing GP2 on a 486/100 w/ 16MB
RAM and am reasonably satisfied.  I don't have all the details, but I
still have a convincing sim, which is *much* more driveable than ICR2.
Sure, GP2, and the recent Papyrus sims have had bugs, but what has
caused this?  Their customers ( that would be US) scream when games
aren't released when we feel they should be, and then have the audacity
to scream louder when they rush development and don't fix (or possibly
find) all the bugs before releasing the games to pacify us.  I think we
need to look at the big picture here.  I know I wouldn't have the first
clue of how to program a sim like GP2, ICR2, NASCAR2 and such, so I have
respect for those who can.  As such, I don't have much point to argue
about how the game developers do their job, because for myself (and
probably a lot of other people in this group), we can't do any better
than they are.  I think we all need to be thankful for the sims we have,
and aren't stuck still playing Pole Position!

Take the sign that says NO SHIRT, NO SHOES, NO SERVICE.  Does this mean
that as long as I have on a shirt and shoes I can take off my pants and
still get the bacon cheeseburger?

Ridiculous, I've finished races. The only times I've failed are when I
try a Gerhard Berger pass or when I spin off on my own (a bit like Inoue,
but I can get pole position). You can't always rely on a backmarker seeing
you, and there's no reason a car should move out of your way when you're
racing for position.
Basically, learn how to drive the sim and stop complaining.

You ask why the products have bugs and then answer your own question
by placing the blame on us and rushed development. Then you claim
complete ignorance as to how game developers do their job. How then
can you KNOW that WE rushed them. Jeez, if we had the power to sway
and influence a company to release a product well before it was done
don't you think we'd also demand it to be bug free? I personally don't
think this group has that much corporate sway.. Maybe the little stuff
but marketing strategy for a big corp..hell, I wish!! As far as I
know Microprose hasn't been here to collect all of that "pressure"
we  supposedly apply.
The idea that " since you can't program it, you can't complain about
it" is not a valid argument. Applying that "logic" in the real world
would result in, for instance, you never being able to return a
defective piece of merchandise simply because you lack the expertise
to make one better, if at all i.e, cars, boats, vegematics, various
Ronco devices.
Now I'm not complaining about the sims at all. I love em. The bugs
usually get fixed. I appreciate the programmers coming here with
an eye to implement our suggestions and to answer our questions. But
I object to the insinuation that I helped to push the product(s) out
the door too early.
Regards,
Greg
Gavel
p.s. Hell, If i'd have known I had so much "corporate sway" I'd have
asked for a Winston Cup trophy girl with every box of N2. :)

God, what a jerk! Don't you realise that we all have a god given right to
101% bug free sims that model every aspect of the sport in the minutest
detail, provide 50fps on a 386 and cost no more than 10 bucks.

You clearly have no experience of sim racing and do not deserve to post
in this group.

;-))

Richard

Oh, and now me to upgrade to a 386? Money doesn't grow on trees. Gp2
should be able to run at 50fps in SVGA on my Commodore 64! I expect
nothing less. What about the bugs? Yes, Gp2 should have been 110% bug
free, or they should have made the patch before the game, so that we don't
have to wait for the patch once the game comes out. ;)
