Judging from your screenshots, it looks like they STILL haven't
got straight pit roads.  Is that true?

I took some screenshots I think you'll enjoy in addition to my
breakdown of the latest build I got from Papyrus.  Enjoy, and
questions are welcome.

In your article you mention the following thing:

"Finally, it will be nice to see TNT2 and other Direct3D card owners
brought into the fold for racing, something that has not yet really been
done in a Papyrus racing sim."

I thought that Nascar 3 supported D3D. I'm not sure what you meant by
this. Does it mean you wished people with those cards try the beta
version and send their feedback?

No.  He means that in the past, if you wanted decent 3D accelerated
performance, you had to have a Rendition or a Voodoo card, as well as a
sim that has native support for one or both chipsets.

Since N3 supports DirectX, people that are running cards like TNT,
Matrox, Savage, et al, can finally get some use out of their 3D cards in
a racing sim.

No.  N3 *does* support D3D.

I have a voodoo2 sli, could you tell me which mode provides the best looking
graphics: Glide or Direct 3d.  I had the unfortunate task of playing NASCAR
revolution and both modes looked the same to me in that.

Thanks!

Most disconcerting item about this whole deal was your statement that on
your machine (that runs GPL nicely) STRUGGLED with this sim.  Sure makes
me realize how long-in-tooth my machine is getting. (Sigh...)

Right now I think Glide looks a bit better, but D3D is coming along
since the earlier preview I did.

Yeah I know.  I hope they optimize it in bunches before it gets
released.
