OT Stuttering problems solved

I had a lot of problems lately, stuttering in my sims at random
moments, ridiculous loading times from my HD and CDROM and a bunch of
other problems. Clean install of W98 didn't help.

Well, today I installed XP and guess what.. All problems are gone :)
Thanks to Jason and Andrew and the rest for the tips!

Hey Goy, Microsoft rulez ;)

No stuttering in GPL, even?

In GPL (and all other games) I had the problem that the HD kept on
loading for about 1 minute after I could drive allready, so the first
minute of the race I was racing with an fps varying from 36 to about
10. After a minute the loading stopped and I had a constant 36fps.

In XP this problem is gone. A friend of mine told me he had to delete
a certain file in GPL to get it working under XP, but mine run out of
the box.

Why did you ask, is there a know stuttering problem with GPL under XP?
I only tried training mode yesterday, had 36fps, have to test full
grid races on the graphically heavier tracks though.

I've been testing games and programs all night long and so far XP does
wonders here.. very happy with it!

Your 'how to give XP the look and feel of 98' was very helpfull by the
way :)

Depends on the soundcard.  What card do you have?

SBLive 5.1 :(
So far I don't have stuttering sound problems in my games. (I had a
lot of sound problems under W98). I haven't installed Creative's
crappy software yet. XP detected and installed drivers for the card
automatically and so far it works perfect.
