Just bought Andretti racing for the PS - and am I disappointed!
It's Need for Speed 2 tarted up.I know NFS was superb on the PC but the PS
version was mediocre and it seems EA have tweaked the game engine a bit,got a
celebrity endor***t and dumped it on us public.
On paper the game sounds good and from a distance it seems ok but the real
problem is the tracks and the poor graphics used for them - it is
really, really confusing to see where you are going.I know this is part of the
challenge but they are so untidy and poorly rendered that it causes serious
problems. And using lighter shades of road in squares to give an impression of
speed?Ballblazer ring any bells?
I am really disappointed.If I had the cash I would happily buy a 200mhz
Pentium and spend from then until eternity playing F1GP2 and Indycar racing
but at present I have to contend with my faithful Amiga and my PS.
Come on Microprose/Papyrus - convert one of your racers to the PS-the sales of
F1 on this format must show you that there is a market out there.
I find it hard to believe that Mario was playing the PS version when he says
in the manual "Andretti Racing...the car physics are amazingly true to the
real thing."Someone out there prove him wrong?
