: I have 2 questions. What is UNIVBE? I've seen it mentioned here. Is it a
: video driver that increases performance? I tried using the unisvga.exe
: (or whatever that is called) off of the CD but when I go to play Nascar the
: bottom 2/3 of the screen is black and all of the graphics is stacked on top
: of each other in the upper 1/3 of the screen.
UNIVBE is a Universal VESA driver. The attempt is to utilize the
fastest possible implementation of video cards graphics. This is
usually needed for SVGA. Some cards implement the VESA standards poorly
in its BIOS. Some need an external driver to be loaded to accomplish
this it all. It would appear that unisvga.exe is incompatiable with
your video card. However, you may want to get a copy of ScitechSoft's
UNIVBE 5.1a. The URL for this is:
ftp://ftp.scitechsoft.com/uvbe51a.zip
Hopefully this driver will be compatiable with your video card. It may
provide some improvement with frame rate, then again it may not. But
it's worth a try. Cheaper than buying a new video card :-)
: Q #2, after giving my car a new paintjob in paintkit I have to exit PK, start
: up nascar, go into view drivers and then select my car at which time my car
: will spin around slowly showing me the new paintjob and stickers ....
: Have I missed something in paintkit? Is there a way to get this spinning view
: of the car in paintkit?
Nope, you haven't missed anything at all. That's the only way to see
your finished paint job. Well that and doing replays within NASCAR.
After you have done your 124th car it will all be second nature and you
will be able to see in you mind :-) Now that's virtual reality!
